ARSI VU Rookie Contest
India's contest for operators licensed under five years: 24 hours of SSB on four HF bands, with experienced operators encouraged to work them.
Rules at arsi.infoThe rules are the sponsor's. This page holds the dates and the facts.
When it runs
Dates set by the sponsor each year (no derivable rule)
- 1200Z → 1159Z the next day
Times are UTC, as the sponsor states them.
The sponsor announces these dates a year at a time and there is no rule to derive, so this calendar holds only the years they have published: 2026.
Next runnings
The sponsor sets this date each year rather than by a rule, and has published through 2026. Years they have not announced are absent rather than guessed.

- Entry limited to VU. K stations may be worked but cannot submit an entry.
ARSI states the objective as encouraging newly-licensed operators 'in India' and gives no explicit participation clause. VU is this catalog's reading of that, not ARSI's wording, so it is unverified. Ask ARSI.
Where this comes from
- Checked against the sponsor
- Yes. The rule on this page was read off ARSI's own published rules. Link last confirmed 2026-08-19.
- What the source says
arsi.info/arsi-vu-rookie-contest/: 'Date : 25 - 26 April 2026. Duration : Sat 25 Apr 12:00 UTC to Sun 26 Apr 11:59:59 UTC (Sat 17:30 IST to Sun 17:29:59 IST).' 'Bands - HF Bands: 40, 20, 15, 10 M. Mode - SSB only.' Objective: 'To encourage newly-licensed operators ("Rookies") in India to operate on the HF bands and experience competitive Amateur Radio operating. Experienced operators ("Non-Rookies") are strongly encouraged to participate and help new operators.' 'Rookie - Any Radio Amateur whose "first" license is less than 5 years old.'
- Recorded caveats
- A rookie is defined by licence age rather than by operator age -- first licence less than five years old -- and non-rookies are invited to work them. ARSI PUBLISHES DATES, NOT A RECURRENCE. Every one of its contest pages opens with the year's dates and states no rule anywhere -- no 'annually on', no ordinal weekend. So all five records are manual and hold exactly the 2026 editions ARSI published. Fitting an ordinal to one date would be inventing a rule ARSI has not written, and Asia is thin enough that the temptation is worth naming.
Something wrong? How to report it — a link to the sponsor's own page is all it takes.

Subscribe (iCal) carries this contest's runnings for the next twelve months as UTC instants and keeps them current. Apple Calendar, Outlook and Thunderbird take this address directly. Its identifiers are stable across deploys, so re-subscribing does not duplicate anything: https://contestclock.com/api/ics?id=arsi-vu-rookie
Google has no working one-click subscribe. Paste that address into Settings → Add calendar → From URL. Google then polls it on its own schedule, often 8–24 hours, and that cannot be forced — so use Add to Google Calendar above if you want the next running in your calendar now.
