CWops CW Open unverified

Three four-hour CW sprints in one September day, scored separately, with a serial number and your name as the exchange.

Rules at cwops.orgThe rules are the sponsor's. This page holds the dates and the facts.

These dates have not been checked against CWops's own published rules yet. They are computed from the rule below, which is what the catalog holds — but the sponsor's page wins.

When it runs

Dates set by the sponsor each year (no derivable rule)

  • 0000Z → 0359Zsession 1
  • 1200Z → 1559Zsession 2
  • 2000Z → 2359Zsession 3

Times are UTC, as the sponsor states them.

3 sessions run off the one anchor day; each is a separate running with its own log.

The sponsor announces these dates a year at a time and there is no rule to derive, so this calendar holds only the years they have published: 2026.

Next runnings

The sponsor sets this date each year rather than by a rule, and has published through 2026. Years they have not announced are absent rather than guessed.

Where this comes from

Checked against the sponsor
unverified — these dates have not yet been checked against CWops's own page. Treat the sponsor's rules as authoritative.
What the source says
cwops.org/cwops-tests/cw-open/, CWops' own page: 'The 2026 CW Open Will Be Held On September 5, 2026.' Three separate competitions on the one day, 0000-0359z, 1200-1559z and 2000-2359z. Bands: '160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10 meters'. Exchange: 'Sequential Serial Number and Name'. Deadline: 'All logs for CWO 2026 must be submitted by the log deadline: September 27, 2026.'
Recorded caveats
THREE SEPARATE COMPETITIONS ON ONE DAY, not one twelve-hour contest with breaks -- CWops scores each session on its own, which is why this record uses the sessions array rather than a single window. MANUAL AND UNVERIFIED BECAUSE ONE PUBLISHED DATE IS NOT A RULE. September 5 2026 is the first Saturday of September, and that is an observation about one year rather than a recurrence CWops states. Fitting an ordinal to a single date is the mistake this catalog spends most of its effort not making. A second year's announcement settles it.

Something wrong? How to report it — a link to the sponsor's own page is all it takes.

Take it with you

Subscribe (iCal)This record as JSON

Subscribe (iCal) carries this contest's runnings for the next twelve months as UTC instants and keeps them current. Apple Calendar, Outlook and Thunderbird take this address directly. Its identifiers are stable across deploys, so re-subscribing does not duplicate anything: https://contestclock.com/api/ics?id=cwops-cw-open

Google has no working one-click subscribe. Paste that address into Settings → Add calendar → From URL. Google then polls it on its own schedule, often 8–24 hours, and that cannot be forced — so use Add to Google Calendar above if you want the next running in your calendar now.
