Stew Perry Topband Challenge unverified

Twenty-four hours on top band, four times a year, scored by distance between grid squares rather than by contacts.

Rules at kkn.netThe rules are the sponsor's. This page holds the dates and the facts.

These dates have not been checked against Boring Amateur Radio Club's own published rules yet. They are computed from the rule below, which is what the catalog holds — but the sponsor's page wins.

When it runs

Dates set by the sponsor each year (no derivable rule)

  • 1500Z → 1459Z the next day

Times are UTC, as the sponsor states them.

The sponsor announces these dates a year at a time and there is no rule to derive, so this calendar holds only the years they have published: 2026.

Where this comes from

Checked against the sponsor
unverified — these dates have not yet been checked against Boring Amateur Radio Club's own page. Treat the sponsor's rules as authoritative.
What the source says
kkn.net/stew/stew_rules.html, the Boring Amateur Radio Club's own rules. Four runnings a year, each stated as a date rather than a rule: March 14, June 20, October 17 and December 26. Each runs '1500z for 24 hours' on '160 meters CW only', with a 'Four character grid square (i.e. CN85)' as the exchange and logs due 'within 14 days of the contest'.
Recorded caveats
MANUAL, BECAUSE THE CLUB PUBLISHES DATES AND NOT A RULE. All four 2026 runnings fall on a Saturday, but no single ordinal describes them -- March's is the second Saturday, June's the third, October's the third and December's the fourth. The record holds exactly what the club published and produces nothing for 2027 until somebody reads their next list, which is the same treatment the NCJ Sprints get and for the same reason. Marked unverified because ONE year's dates cannot confirm a pattern that does not exist. It becomes verified when a second year's list is read and the record still only claims what was printed. The grid-square exchange is the point of the contest: scoring is by distance, so a short haul into a rare square can outscore a long one.

Something wrong? How to report it — a link to the sponsor's own page is all it takes.

Add to Google CalendarSubscribe (iCal)This record as JSON

Add to Google Calendar puts the next running in as a single event. It is one event, not a subscription — come back for the one after it, or use the feed below.

Subscribe (iCal) carries this contest's runnings for the next twelve months as UTC instants and keeps them current. Apple Calendar, Outlook and Thunderbird take this address directly. Its identifiers are stable across deploys, so re-subscribing does not duplicate anything: https://contestclock.com/api/ics?id=stew-perry

Google has no working one-click subscribe. Paste that address into Settings → Add calendar → From URL. Google then polls it on its own schedule, often 8–24 hours, and that cannot be forced — so use Add to Google Calendar above if you want the next running in your calendar now.
